This month we are delighted to be supporting 4Sight Vision Support (4SVS), a small, independent charity providing specialist support to enable blind and sight impaired adults and children across West Sussex to live life without limits.
They create personalised support plans to help people access support and maintain their independence after a sight loss diagnosis. Using a holistic, person-centered approach, they provide advice, accessibility aids and a caring, friendly and inclusive community.
As a small, independent charity which receives no direct government funding, they rely on the generosity of grant making organisations and their local community to raise the £500,000 it costs each year to deliver their specialist support to around 2,200 blind and sight impaired people.
- Their qualified professionals work closely with hospital Ophthalmology teams to guide clients through the sight loss certification and registration process. They explain the support and resources available and help people to understand their sight loss condition.
- Their amazing HQ team are the first point of contact, offering a caring and supportive assessment of peoples’ needs. Client Services organise referrals to their different services, signposting to other forms of support and keep clients updated via regular newsletters and welfare calls.
- Their Vision Support Advocates carry out a full needs-based assessment to ensure each individual’s support needs are met. This person-centered service covers all ages from birth to later life with a variety of support. This may include support with education, employment, benefit applications, training, peer-support and mobility.
- Their Low Vision Specialists help clients access the correct magnification, lighting and accessibility aids to make everyday tasks easier. The team helps sight impaired people get the most out of their remaining vision.
There are lots of ways you can support 4Sight, from making a donation, taking part in one of their events or by scrapping your vehicle with us this month and donating some, or all of the profits to them. Your support, however great or small, makes a huge difference.
