Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is a charity devoted to delivering pioneering care through pregnancy, childhood and loss, wherever and whenever it is needed.
The charity provides high quality bespoke services for prospective parents, as well as babies, children and their wider families that are having to deal with life-limiting conditions or having to cope with loss. An inclusive charity that offers a 24/7 accessible hospice, as well as providing care at home or in hospital, every penny raised is focussed on meeting the needs of every family it helps.
Russell House, the charity’s hospice, located near Huddersfield, received an ‘outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission, which means that it sits in the top 1% of all organisations inspected, a rating the charity is constantly working to ensure stays in place to ensure that only the best of care is provided to those in need.
Opened by HRH Princess Beatrice in 2012, who is also the Royal Patron for the charity, Russell House has a glowing reputation, with a large number of visitors astounded by just how much laughter fills its corridors. It’s for reasons like this that families refer to it as their home-from-home, where they can not only relax, but get help and support from professionals and those who understand exactly what they are going through. Russell House and the Forget Me Not Hospice as a whole strives to change the perception of children’s hospices away from thoughts of depressing hospital halls to the warmth and laughter of home.
As technologies advance, difficult news can reach families much sooner than ever before, and Forget Me Not Hospice became the first children’s hospice to employ a dedicated worker to support families in the first few days, weeks and months after the sudden and unexpected death of a child.
